signature event - La nuit d'hibernation Cabaret
Hamilton Winterfest presents HAG’s annual Winterfest Cabaret. Hamilton Aerial Group is a circus collective who have been performing in and around Hamilton since 2010. Their first cabaret in 2015 was a huge success with a sellout of 600 tickets! Since then, their cabaret style Winterfest performances have morphed into true narrative theatre using aerial skills, stilt walking, puppetry and live music. This year HAG goes back to their cabaret style theatre, welcoming performers and musicians outside the collective to perform in the cabaret style narrative.
The hibernation theme sees characters sleeping and dreaming of things to come. Using mask and shadow puppetry, song, aerial dance, stilt-walking and clowning you won’t want to miss this spectacular family show!

Write Like Festival - masterclass: writing worlds
Once upon a time, Amal El-Mohtar received a gift of twenty-eight vials of honey. Through a series of poetic encounters, a sunlit book of poetry and prose, The Honey Month, was written in the heart of winter. Inspired by Amal’s poetic experiments with honey, this workshop welcomes participants into a folkloric laboratory of encounters. Participants will be invited to interact with a curated set of objects with a focus on the sensory input we receive from them by observing, touching, smelling, and occasionally tasting them. Then we’ll use that sensory input to prompt fiction in which our chosen object becomes the focus of a mythic encounter and share the results.
